Rotate & flip
The photo’s own orientation is applied first, then your angle. Output is re-encoded once (quality 92).

When people need this
A phone held upside down still saves a landscape photo, so a group shot arrives sideways in every app that ignores the orientation tag. Old scans are often a few degrees off the edge of the glass, which is not fixable with 90° turns — that is the case for the angle slider. Batch rotation matters when a folder of documents was scanned in the same wrong direction.
How big the file gets
Rotation always re-encodes, because the pixels have moved. At quality 92 the difference is not visible; expect the file size to stay within about 10% of the original. Rotating by a non-right angle adds canvas area in the corners, so a 30° rotation of a 12 MP photo produces roughly 14 MP of white or transparent padding — pick the background colour deliberately.
Why not just turn the phone
Because the orientation tag is metadata, and every program decides for itself whether to honour it. Rotating bakes the direction into the pixels, so the image looks the same in a 2005 photo viewer, in a Word document and in a print shop’s RIP. If a downstream system keeps showing it sideways, the tag was the problem and this fixes it for good.
